Be the house of all and for all ; members of the Bresillac missionary family, friends, co-workers, migrants, employees, volunteers, visitors, passings guests….

Why this Logo?

The person is invisible. They have neither a defined color nor shape. They are not immediately visible, but sensed. Whether from here or elsewhere, only their inner self conveys a message, with open arms extended in welcome. The person radiates a sun from their very being—a yellow sun, symbolizing light and resurrection. This sun is neither rising nor setting, but stands at its zenith, representing full conviction—neither hesitant nor in decline. From this sun, two tongues of fire, reminiscent of Pentecost, descend upon the blue Missionary International House, connecting us to all the skies and oceans of the continents where the SMA is present. Does not the sun represent the community of life that each person carries within, from which spring the two tongues of fire, symbolizing the Carrefour of African Cultures and FIRMEM?

The History

The history of International Missionary House began in 1870 with father Planque who located the newly born society of African Missions at 150 Cours Gambetta.

From there, the architecture of the building and its use has evolved parallel to the history the SMA. The building, also known as « 150 » by the inhabitant of Lyon, sheltered the African Museum until 2017.

In 2023, the building of 150 got a new look and was born under a new shape, more inclusive and opened to all, « the International Missionary House.

To be at the service of the mission and of the Living together.
