Since 2011, the Society of African Missions (SMA) has adopted a policy to combat abuse of minors and vulnerable persons.

In November 2018, together with other religious institutes that are members of CORREF (the Conference of Religious in France), it agreed to the creation of the Independent Commission on Sexual Abuse in the Church (CIASE), provided financial support for its work, and now handles abuse cases in collaboration with the CRR (Commission for Recognition and Reparation).

A Delegate for the Protection of Minors has been appointed to assist the Provincial Superior in matters relating to this area.
